Short timer

It's Father's Day, a day I don't really celebrate any more as my own Dad, (sort of, some of you know what I mean), is long gone, but I know a few good Dad's out there and to you I say "Omedeto" (おめでとう) or something like that.

It's 19 days till I leave for Nagoya. Oh my..will I really have everything done by then? I am currently deeply occupied with getting through the end of the school year, grading final projects, getting grades posted, cleaning my class room for my replacement next year, saying farewells, and emotionally detaching myself from a school I have been so involved with for eight years. Then there's still all the details of modern life that have to be taken care, insurances for everything, bills that will crop up while I'm gone, voting from afar, pet care, and other mundane concerns. And believe it or not, I obsess about what to take, what to leave, what to buy there, what won't be there that I will need. Some part of me wishes I could cut loose from all such concerns, take only my toothbrush ( the one thing I'm sure I can buy there!) and leave, but no, it has gotten much more complicated than that. At least once I'm on the plane all this will be over.
Krista gave me some good advice. She read my blog and said "no one wants to know about all these gripes and personal administrivia, tell us how you feel and what you are thinking and why you are going in the first place. That seems like a tall order, but I will try to do better in the future. I am a total nube at this.

The picture is an historic castle in Okazaki City, my destination in Japan. For more info on the school go to the web site: www.yamasa.org/index.html, source of the photo as well. Till next week. じゃまた。
